Certificates

AWS CWI, Code Endorsements, and similar certifications authorize non-engineers to discuss technical matters including welding, material science, and code compliance. Engineers are certified with Professional Engineering Registration which authorizes them to discuss any technical matter within their area of expertise, to supervise engineering design, to testify in court as a technical expert, and to seal plans for construction.

The PE Registration greatly exceeds AWS CWI, BS, MS, PhD, and all other technical certifications. In addition, design codes do not exceed the technical authority of the Registered Professional Engineer. Professional Engineering Registration is also a primary reference.
